“The University of Alabama recently learned that a doctoral student was arrested outside the campus by federal immigration authorities,” said the university in a statement. “Federal privacy laws limit what can be shared on an individual student. International students studying at the University are valuable members of the Campus community, and international and academic services are available to help international students who have questions.”

“Ua will continue and continue following all immigration laws and will cooperate with federal authorities,” he said.

It was not clear immediately if he had ensured legal representation.

Doroudi’s LinkedIn page says he is a “trained metallurgy engineer with more than ten years of academic experience in material science, welding and welding.”

Doroudi is one of the multiple university students to be recently arrested for ICE.

TUFTS University Ph.D. The student Rumeysa Ozturb, a Turkish citizen, was arrested by the immigration authorities when he headed to meet her friends and broke her quickly on Tuesday.

Earlier this month, Pro-Palestinian activist Mahmoud Khalil was arrested by ICE. Khalil had been one of the leaders of the Pro-Palestinian camp at the University of Columbia last spring.

Khalil was taken from his student apartment building in Lower Manhattan, and then to an immigration detention center in Elizabeth, New Jersey, before being transferred to Louisiana.

President Donald Trump said that Khalil was a “student of radical foreign pro-hamas” and said that this is the “first arrest of many to come” in a position on his social platform of the truth this month.

“We will find, we will apprehend and deport these terrorist supporters from our country, to never return to return,” he added.

Khalil and his lawyers have denied that he supports Hamas or has some link with the group.

A second student involved with the protests at Columbia University was also arrested by the Department of National Security this month.

Leqaa Korda was arrested by national security investigations agents for allegedly overcoming his defeated visa, which ended on January 26, 2022. Korda was also arrested in 2024 for his participation in protests, according to DHS.
